You are hallucinating right now

What if I told you that everything you are experiencing right now, including the experience of your own existence is an hallucination?

Take a moment to focus on where you are. Maybe you have a hand on your computer mouse, or your phone, your head oriented towards the screen. What about you? It’s likely that what you feel to be the centre of your self is located in your head, behind your eyes. A central point from which you control the rest of your body.

How did you get here?

Well, you were probably doing something before you arrived on this blog. Admittedly not a bold claim to make. You were doing something before that too. And before that, in a long line of doing things that eventually led to your birth, before which you were doing far less, if it still makes sense to call you you.

But that’s an important question. What makes you, you? What really is this feeling that we describe as self?

At some point between your birth and this blog post, you made a few decisions and interacted with some people. This, along with the above series of events following your birth, will have all culminated in you reading this post — a truly momentous occasion, right?
